These terms govern your use of the FIREBar app and website. The most important one is section 3: FIREBar is a record-keeping and analysis tool, not financial advice.
By downloading or using FIREBar (“the app”) you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
The app is distributed through the Apple App Store and is additionally subject to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which applies where these terms are silent.
FIREBar records side-income entries you enter or capture, and computes summaries from them — monthly income, a trailing twelve-month figure, replacement rate against a target you set, consecutive months on target, and the share of your largest income source.
All records are stored on your device and, if you enable it, in your own iCloud. We do not host your data.
The app is explicitly designed to inform decisions about leaving employment. That makes this point more important, not less. Before making such a decision, consider consulting a qualified professional who knows your full circumstances — including tax, social insurance, healthcare and dependants, none of which the app models.
The target you set is a number you chose. The app neither validates it nor recommends any particular value.
Quick Capture uses a third-party language model to organise natural-language input and, for screenshot capture, on-device text recognition before parsing. Automated parsing can and will make mistakes. The app is designed to leave uncertain fields blank rather than guess, and every parsed entry requires your confirmation before it is recorded.
You are responsible for reviewing what you confirm. We make no warranty that parsing is accurate, complete or suitable for accounting, tax or regulatory purposes.
The core of the app — recording, viewing and exporting — works offline and does not depend on us. Quick Capture's automated parsing depends on our relay service and on third-party providers, and may be slow, rate-limited, interrupted, changed or discontinued. We do not guarantee its availability.
Manual entry remains free and unlimited regardless.
Recording, viewing your full history, the analyses, Quick Capture and CSV import/export are free and unlimited. They always will be.
One optional subscription, FIREBar Pro, unlocks a single convenience: syncing your records across your own devices through iCloud. It is offered weekly, monthly or yearly, billed through your Apple Account, and renews automatically until cancelled. You can cancel any time in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions; the current period runs to its end.
When a subscription lapses, syncing stops. Nothing is deleted: your records stay on your device, and whatever already reached iCloud stays there too.
The app is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We are not liable for lost income, lost data, or decisions taken on the basis of figures shown in the app.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including, for consumers in the EU and UK, your statutory rights.
We may update these terms; the effective date at the top of this page will change. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it.
〔GOVERNING LAW / JURISDICTION — to be completed before release〕. Mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence are unaffected.
